The Road to D.C. During 2000, the County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association participated in the celebration of the 1970s television series "Emergency!" Project 51, a not-for-profit public benefit corporation, raised funds and organized several events. Those events included the donation of artifacts to the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. Among the artifacts were items of paramedic equipment used in the TV series, as well as props and uniforms, original scripts, and early paramedic training materials. In honor of the 5th anniversary of the historic event, the County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association has recreated and updated the original website, Squad51.org (that website is sadly no more and a lot of information was lost). That website was tasked with the herculian effort to cover the cross-country events (with daily updates), donations, Squad 51 and the people involved for Project 51 - The Road to D.C.
Please join us here to revisit all the wonder, adventure and the good people that were met along the way.
