Message from the President
December 7, 2004
My name is Joe Woyjeck and with the unfortunate passing of our President James O. Page,
I have been moved into the position of President of your County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association.
I am both honored and saddened to be writing my first Presidents report.
I am honored that my name and James O. Page’s name are used in the same sentence,
however, like many of you, I am still saddened that our friend Jim Page has passed.
I have been involved with the museum since the 1980’s. I come from a family of current,
retired and deceased Los Angeles County firefighters. I take the preservation of the history
of this great profession very seriously.
I have held the rank of Firefighter, Firefighter Paramedic, Engineer, and presently hold
the rank of Paramedic Fire Captain working at fire station 45 in the city of Lakewood.
As you can imagine, running a museum is more than restoring old fire engines.
The County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association cannot be judged merely on
its extensive collection of restored and unrestored vintage fire apparatus. Its
true value must be quantified by the benefits delivered by the preservation of the
history of a proud and noble profession.
The County of Los Angeles Fire Museum is an extremely well respected, viable organization
with power and vision to grow. As we work towards our goal of a new building, we find
that we have more and more support along the way. I expect great things in the coming year.
Check in next month as I plan on updating the members on our goals and objectives for the upcoming year.
Thank you for your support!
Happy holidays!
Joe Woyjeck
