In the mid-1970s, two Los Angeles County firefighters
began what would become the County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association. By the
end of the 80's, our museum formally organized under the State of California as
a not-for-profit public benefit corporation.
One of the museum's first donated pieces was
the famous Squad 51 from the hit television show "Emergency!" Since then,
we have
grown from a dozen or so antique fire engines to more than forty dating back to
the 1860s! Additionally, uniforms, badges, helmets, photographs and many other
artifacts are being resurrected and preserved as lucent examples of the County fire
service.
All awaiting a new home, a home that is now
the museum's top priority.
All of the fire apparatus and artifact restoration
efforts are supported by tax-deductible donations, most from the payroll deduction
program supported by many loyal and proud Los Angeles County Firefighters. Without
our vital membership support, the rich history of the County fire service would
be lost.
Become a member. Help preserve the heritage
of a proud profession.
