This 750 gpm steam pumper is the most
valuable piece in the museum associations collection.
It also serves as the symbolic image in the CLAFMA logo. Originally
purchased by the Sacramento (Calif.) Fire Department, this
steamer was horse-drawn and served as that citys Engine
5. It is operational and, in recent years, has been used on
occasion at musters and other fire service events in Southern
California. Since the accompanying photo was taken, the steamers
wheels have been rebuilt, with all spokes and felloes milled
from new wood by a wheelwright in Ohio.
